Illinois Fish Catches- 2007




Charlie Frederick (left), with the help of his stepfather Dan, caught this enormous catfish during August on cut bait. Charlie's son, 20-month old Ashton (right), seems in awe of the gigantic fish.

Jeff Mundy, Lee Nelson, and their friend Jeremy got this 14 lb. 3 ounce Asian carp from Carlyle Lake October 27.


Kirk Ijams caught this seven pound bass on a spinner from a Bloomington-area farm pond.

Thom Matejewski of Spring Valley caught and released this 6.76-pound walleye from the Illinois River near Henry.


Jodi Remmers of Dixon caught this 11-pound, 12-ounce carp with nightcrawlers from the Rock River.

This 4.96-pound bass was caught by Michael Bochenek July 5 at Deep Lake with a four-inch, Lake Fork baby french fry.


John Henry caught this 38 1/2-inch Lake Evergreen muskie on a green spinnerbait during October.

This 18-inch bass was caught Sept. 13 at Johnson Lake in Banner Marsh with a chartruse/blue Bomber Square A crankbait.


These smallmouth bass were caught by Tom Ondras by using a Lucky Craft bait in American Shad color. The fish came from the Cal-Sag River just north of the O'Brien Lock and weighed a total of 11 pounds, 11 ounces.

Rob Fox of Springfield with a 3 lb. 9 oz. bass caught with a watermelon/red plastic worm at Coffeen Lake during July.

Jesse Radke of Joliet caught this 14-inch bass from I & M Canal near Channahon by using a drop shot worm.

Dana Lee with an impressive five pound, 21-inch smallmouth bass caught at Powerton Lake on a tube jig.

Kris Berchiolly of Arlington Heights caught this largemouth bass during June at Independence Grove in Lake County.

Another big Evergreen Lake catfish, caught with chicken liver by Wallace Riffle of Bloomington. The fish weighed 13 lbs. 13 oz. and was 30 inches long.

Amy Jones of Peoria caught this 18-inch, 3 lb. 8 oz. Powerton Lake smallmouth bass using shrimp bait on July 10.

Kevin Huprich of Peoria caught this 30-inch catfish at Evergreen Lake June 29 by using a jig and nightcrawler.

Jason Dockery caught this 16-inch bass with a nightcrawler from Woodhaven Lake near Sublette.
Steve Cicciarelli of Peoria caught the smallmouth bass (left) on a Chompers lure and the northern pike on a crankbait while fishing Hidden Lakes Farm near Williamsfield.

This 36-inch Spring Lake musky was caught June 3 on a black/yellow Senko.

Mia Hinshaw, daughter of muskie guide Thad Hinshaw, with a 34-inch muskie she caught with dad at Evergreen Lake.

Bob Park of Germantown Hills caught these five catfish on Hoss's Hawg Bait at a private Tazewell County lake June 2.

Jeff Bennett of Morton caught this 12-pound catfish on a nightcrawler June 3 at Spring Lake North.

Gina Christensen with 38 crappies caught with jigs at Lake Bloomington on May 12.

Shawn Holmes holds a 16-inch striper and 15 1/2-inch bass caught, along with 31 crappies, May 27 at Lake Bloomington.


Joseph Bruce (left) caught an 8-pound, 12-ounce bass at a pond near Grafton and the next day his wife April landed a 9-pound lunker from the same pond. Both were using live shiners for bait.

Jason Thomas of Lexington with a 26-inch saugeye caught at Lake Evergreen that weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces.

Rick Miller of Washington with a 5 pound, 14 ounce bass caught May 16 on a jig and pig from a Central Illinois strip mine club.

Ron Wolf of Washington with a 15-inch crappie caught at Evergreen Lake that weighed 1 pound, 13 ounces.

Gregg Knackmuhs and his sister Gina Richardson hold some of their winning stringer of six bass caught at South Spring Lake during an April 28 tournament. Their winning weight was nearly 16 pounds.


Travis Boley and John McKinney hold some of their winning catch of bass caught during the April 21 Fishers of Men tournament at Clinton Lake. The team had five fish, including a 6.2 lunker, that weighed 20.49 pounds.

Kevin Huprich of Peoria with a 5-pound Banner Marsh bass caught on a clown-colored stickbait. The fish netted him the big bass award in an April 15 tourney.

This 18-inch Banner West (Shovel Lake) bass was caught in 49-degree water on a clown-colored, suspending Huskie Jerk on March 19.

Dan Rodgers with a 14 lb. 6 oz. catfish caught on cut bait from a farm pond near Bourbonnais.

This 16-inch Banner East (Wheel Lake) bass was caught in 48-degree water on a clown-colored, suspending Huskie Jerk on March 16.
