Illinois Fish Catches- 2008

John Henry caught this 12-pound hybrid striper at the bottom of the Clinton Lake spillway.

Cory Merritt caught this five-pound, six-ounce largemouth bass from a McLean County farm pond by using a Texas-rigged, purple/chartreuse plastic worm.

Jim Crowley caught this hybrid striped bass with a crankbait during June from Lake Bloomington.

This 20-inch Banner Marsh walleye was caught July 13 on a 1/16-ounce crappie jig tipped with a piece of nightcrawler.

Jake Hanner caught this 12.31 carp while fly fishing with a yellow popper at Salem Reservoir.

Rob DeBoer and son Justin (left) and Cory Irby and son Clay (right) celebrated Fathers Day by fishing Lake Chautauqua, where they caught 21 catfish weighing up to five pounds.

Five-year-old Garrett Spellman with a mess of bluegills and 19 bass that weighed between two and four pounds. The fish were caught on May 30, 2008 from a farm pond near Lebanon.

Dan Rodgers of Bourbonnais caught this 5 lb. 13 oz. bass on April 18 using a bluegill for bait in a local farm pond.

Connors Walters caught this 6 lb. 10 oz., 23-inch bass from Newton Lake by using a green spinnerbait.

John "Monte" Monterastelli caught this 24 1/2-inch, 5 lb. 12 oz. saugeye May 17 from Evergreen Lake.

Michael Spann caught this 21-inch, 10.5-pound hybrid striper below the Clinton Lake spillway by using a large minnow.

These are two nice fish caught recently from Evergreen Lake. Bob White (left) of Montgomery with a 13-pound 1-ounce, 32-inch channel catfish and Mike Spayer of LaSalle caught a 12 3/4-inch, 1-pound 2-ounce crappie.

Steve Ciccirelli caught this 20-inch, five-pound bass and 43-inch muskie from Hidden Lakes Farms this spring.

Rob Deboer caught this bass and two-pound crappie at Spring Lake near Manito during April.

Impressive muskies and saugeyes were captured March 26 during the annual Lake Evergreen netting survey. Muskies up to 47 inches and 32 pounds were netted, as well as a 10 1/2-pound saugeye.
